What is Osteopathy?
Osteopathy is a system of assessing, diagnosing, treating and preventing pain and dysfunction in the body.
Osteopaths work with the structure and function of the body, and base their treatments on the principle that “the well-being of an individual depends on the integration of all the working parts”.
Sometimes the worry and concern of being in pain and how things may worsen can restrict us from what benefits us most when we are in pain, such as moving, exercising or carrying out normal daily tasks.
Your Osteopath will clarify what is going on and give you clear advice on what you can do to help yourself without causing any harm or injury to your body.
What can I expect at my first appointment?
Your first appointment is designed to ensure your Osteopath has a thorough understanding of you as an individual.
The initial consultation consists of four main parts:
Recommendations
and Advice
We recommend that you wear something comfortable that will accommodate the examination and treatment such as shorts and a vest or a sports bra.
We also ask you bring a list of any medications you are taking and any results from recent tests or investigations.
We want you to feel relaxed and at ease, so if you would like to bring someone else along to the appointment, you are welcome to do so.
